Thank you Spain.

It's a 2.20hour flight from Santiago De Compestella to Marco Polo Airport in Venice and I have a little time to burn between short naps. I have bitter sweet memories of this my second Camino, I feel grateful and at times humbled by this experience on many levels however it leaves me feeling a little empty inside as well. It is to early for me to fully understand the relevance of many aspects of this my third trip it Spain in 2 years and as per usual when the right time arrives so to will the clarity I seek.
My body is on the improve, my legs although still swollen are loosing some of there soreness.
All my bed bug bits and blisters are all but healed and strangely enough I have callouses on the end of several toes from constant down hill ascents.
I started my preparation in OZ for the 800km walk at a weight of 81.5 kg and got down to what I felt was a fit 77.5kg on departure.
After 27 continuous days of 30km hikes and after averaging 2 coca cola's, 3 - 4 beers and two red wines a day, along with consuming copious quantities of banana's, tortilla's, chocolate, flan, bread and meat/potatoes, I leave for Italy weighing a shade under 73kg.
The same weight I was at the age of 18 in my final school year! So if you have a month to spare and you feel like getting up and close with some of the most diverse, ancient and beautiful parts of Spain, then the Camino de Santiago is to be strongly considered. The bonus is you will get very fit, meet incredible people from all over the world, eat and drink all you can handle and loose lots of weight!
