Yesterday we delayed out departure until 8.30am to wait for a Peligrino who needed to go to the Correo (Post Office). Usual story carrying to much weight and needing to forward it to the Post Office in Santiago, as I did not once but three times in my last Camino. A trip to the post office in Spain can be a lengthy and emotionally frustrating experience, one you will want to avoid if possible or be,prepared to loose a third of your day.
So after two quit slow and long days I decided to smash out today's 25km in 6 hours, while still adhering to my stop every two hours, get your shoes off and let your feet cool down, change your socks (keep your feet dry at all times) this will reduce your chance of blisters. And no blisters makes the Camino a much less painful experience! It doesn't matter how fit you are, everyone walking this Camino from the teenagers to the 75 year olds and above are all in some form of pain everyday without fail. My tendons fell like piano wire stretched to breaking point and every chance I get to shove them in freezing cold local streams I jump at it!
Arrived in Estella around 1.00pm arvo and decided to find a hostel instead of the usual packed Albergue. Had a long hot shower, washed my cloths in the bottom of the shower and headed off to explore this beautiful village.
