Madrid

Well 25 hours on Emirates Airways / Brisbane to Dubai, Dubai to Madrid and I'm checked into the "Petit Palace" hotel just off Gran Via and a stones through from Puerta Del Soul in central Madrid. Its 3.30pm and Madrid feels like an old friend as i notice familiar cafe's and lane ways and it softly welcomes me during its mid afternoon siesta. The sun is hot but my body is soaking in the heat gratefully while I defrost from unnatural doses of Air-travel air-conditioning and I'm enjoying my first Coffee. I've purchased credit for my mobile and IPad and got myself earthed again as I restrace my walking routes from previous visits to this Proud City. I've had a love hate relationship with Madrid and when you look at the history and embedded energy that still resides just under the surface within this Military Capital, a very Masculine Capital that has lived through a bloody civil war and was still under Franco's rule until becoming a democratic society after his death in the mid 1970's. Align that up with my complete distain and cellular memory of lifetimes of Rebellion to any form of authority you can see why I tend to butt heads with this city. I am grateful to feel an acceptance and respect within myself towards this Great city and know that that is a welcomed sign of my softening since my last visit.
More later,
Cheers
Scott.
